As a service to the industry and jurisdictions throughout
the State of California, CCTIA has developed the Competency Advisory
Program (CAP). The intent of this prequalification program is to provide
a uniform, mutually acceptable process for demonstrating competence
to the building official, as required by Chapter 17 of the California
Building Code (CBC).
This program is based on minimum qualfication criteria
developed through discussions with industry representatives and local
building officials. The framework of the program is built on a standard
of practice evidencing supervision by a professional engineer, inspector
qualification based on experience and certification, and accreditation
of laboratory testing facilities. CCTIA's program is designed to prequalify
agencies meeting this criteria, and provide a listing of those agencies
fcr use by the jurisdictions.
Participation in CAP does not require membership in
CCTIA and there is no fee.
